ZeroPoint's take on the 2024 Open Compute Project Global Summit
OCP has become a pivotal force in driving innovation and standardization within the data center industry. Its growing influence is evident with an almost 2X surge to nearly 7,000 attendees in 2024. Here is a quick overview of what we saw, and what we discussed, at OCP 2024.
In mid-October, the ZeroPoint team attended the 2024 Open Compute Project Global Summit, held in San Jose, California.
At the summit ZeroPoint shared a station in the Innovation Village, an area dedicated to showcasing collaborative and work-in-progress OCP projects. Zeropoint was selected to demonstrate our implementation of the OCP Hyperscale Tiered Memory Expander Spec with integrated inline compression [link], using our DenseMem product as part of the demonstration [video here].
The Zeropoint booth was popular – receiving non-stop visits from processor, controller, and memory manufacturers like SK Hynix, Micron, Samsung, Microchip, and Marvell. Hyperscalers such as Meta and Microsoft also dropped by to check out our demos. Everyone who came listened attentively to our presentations and asked smart questions about our demos.
Additionally, during the summit, ZeroPoint participated in a variety of interesting speaking presentations and panel discussions, including:

Finally, for ZeroPoint, one of our biggest observations from the show was that Composable Memory Solutions are an urgent industry need as exemplified by the diverse set of co-travelers sharing the space at Innovation Village, such as Astera Labs, Micron, Seagate, Jackrabbit Labs, Elephance Memory, H3 Platform, Xconn Technologies, and Altera (an Intel Company).
